Teachers

The teacher’s role is to guide the child through the prepared environment, assessing ability, sparking curiosity, and giving the child the tools to further his or her self-directed education.

Full-time teaching staff includes:
Susan Vorhis, director and head teacher of the school.  She holds a master’s degree in early childhood education, and a teaching certificate from the American Montessori Society. She has been teaching Montessori for 20 years.
Deepa Nayampally, assistant teacher.  She joined the school in 2008, and has a degree in business with a background in tutoring.

Part-time teaching staff includes:
Maeva Coolbear, Spanish teacher.  She has degrees in education and Spanish, and has taught preschool for three years.
Tara Welch, kindergarten aide and substitute teacher. She joined the school staff in 2008.
Beckey Breeze, multi-cultural specialist.  She joined the school staff in 2008.
